Cisco Meraki MX64 end of life: end of support dates
By Nico De Muynck · Updated July 26, 2026
Support ends soon, 364 days left.
The Cisco Meraki MX64 reaches its End of Support on July 26, 2027. That is the hard stop: after it there are no firmware or security updates, no support and no hardware replacement.
Meraki MX64 lifecycle milestones
These dates are from Cisco Meraki's official End-of-Sale announcement for the MX64 (and MX64W), on the standard Meraki five-year support policy.
| Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
| End of Sale | 2022-07-26 |
| End of Support | 2027-07-26 |
What these dates mean
End of Sale is the last day the MX64 could be ordered new from Cisco Meraki. End of Support is the one that matters most: it is the last day the appliance receives firmware and security updates and is eligible for support or advance hardware replacement. Because Meraki devices are cloud-managed and licensed, an MX64 past End of Support is a particular problem, an unpatched, internet-facing security appliance whose licensing and dashboard support have lapsed, so it becomes a standing security and compliance risk. For how Meraki's lifecycle works in full, see the Meraki EOL guide.
What replaces the Meraki MX64?
Cisco Meraki positions the MX67 as the direct, functionally equivalent replacement for the MX64, with the MX68 as the step up. Moving to a current MX also resets your support and firmware runway by years rather than months. If you are still running MX64 units, line up the swap and the license transfer before End of Support rather than after. New to the terminology? See EOL vs EOS vs EOSL.
