Juniper EX4200 end of life: support dates
By Nico De Muynck · Updated August 2, 2026
This switch is past its End of Support date.
The Juniper EX4200 reached its End of Support on June 30, 2024. That is the hard stop: after it Juniper provides no support, no hardware replacement and no software fixes.
The EX4200 was Juniper's long-running Virtual Chassis access switch and is still found in plenty of wiring closets. It is now well past End of Support.
EX4200 lifecycle milestones
These dates come from Juniper's published End of Life milestone table for the EX4200.
| Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
| EOL announced | 2019-02-01 |
| Last order date | 2019-06-30 |
| Last date to convert warranty | 2020-06-30 |
| Same day support discontinued | 2024-06-30 |
| Next day support discontinued | 2024-06-30 |
| End of Support | 2024-06-30 |
EX4200 shared one end-of-life notice with the EX2200 and EX3300, so all three reached End of Support on the same day.
What these dates mean
Last order date is the last day the EX4200 could be ordered from Juniper. Last date to convert warranty is the cutoff for moving a warranty onto a support contract. End of Support is the one that matters most: after it there is no JTAC support, no RMA replacement and no software fixes, so the switch becomes a standing security and compliance risk. For how Juniper's lifecycle works in full, see the Juniper EOL guide.
What replaces the EX4200?
Juniper positions the EX4400 Series as the successor to the EX4200. If you are still running EX4200 hardware in production, budget the refresh rather than waiting for a failed RMA to force it. New to the terminology? See EOL vs EOS vs EOSL.
