We track 13 variants in this family. 11 are already past end of support and 1 ends within the next twelve months. The earliest and latest dates are 15 years apart, which is why a single family-wide date is worth nothing.

Why this family is easy to get wrong

The 300 series has a naming problem that the 60 and 100 series do not. Fortinet also sells a FortiGate-3000D, a FortiGate-3100D and a FortiGate-3200D, and a search for "FortiGate 300 end of life" returns all of them mixed together. They are chassis-class appliances with nothing in common with the 300E beyond three digits.

The table on this page contains only the 300 series proper: the 300, 300A, 300C, 300D and 300E and their variants. If the part number you are checking has a fourth digit, it belongs to a different family and a different date.

What the dates actually say

The 300C generation all ended together on 20 August 2021, including the G and LENC revisions, which is unusually tidy for Fortinet. The 300D ended on 11 October 2023 with the USG variant running to 14 January 2024. The 300E base unit ended 15 July 2026.

There is no 300F. Fortinet did not continue the series into the F generation, which is why a like-for-like replacement does not exist and why this page cannot offer one. The range was restructured around the 400F and 401F at this throughput band instead.

Where a 300E should go

The 400F and 401F are the practical successors. Both sit above the 300E on inspected throughput by a wide margin, because the NP7 and SoC4 silicon in the F generation changed what the number on the box means. Sizing on the old model number will lead you to buy more appliance than you need.

What the rest of the FortiGate 1U range has left

A 300E replacement usually lands on a 400F or 401F rather than a like-for-like step, because the F generation reshuffled the throughput bands. These are the models still inside support.
