Cisco Meraki MX60 end of life: end of support dates
By Nico De Muynck · Updated August 24, 2026
This firewall is past its End of Support date.
The Cisco Meraki MX60 reached its End of Support on October 24, 2022. That date has passed, so there are no further firmware or security updates, no vendor support and no hardware replacement for this unit.
MX60 lifecycle milestones
The MX60 ships in 4 trim variants. They differ in chassis, radio or port trim, and they share one End of Support date, so a single deadline covers all of them.
| Model | End of Support |
|---|---|
| MX60 | 2022-10-24 |
| MX60W | 2022-10-24 |
| MX60-HW | 2022-10-24 |
| MX60W-HW | 2022-10-24 |
What the date means
Meraki is the strictest of the three because the hardware is inseparable from the cloud service. End of Support lands five years after End of Sale, and past it the unit loses firmware, dashboard support and hardware replacement eligibility. A Meraki device is licensed as well as managed, so an out-of-support unit is not merely unpatched, it is an unpatched appliance whose management plane you no longer have a supported relationship with.
A firewall past End of Support is the worst version of this problem. It sits on the perimeter by definition, it terminates remote access, and it is the single device an attacker most wants a known unpatched version of. Vulnerabilities disclosed after the date are never fixed on it, and firewall CVEs are routinely exploited within days of publication. Cyber insurance questionnaires and most compliance frameworks now ask specifically whether perimeter devices are vendor-supported.
For the full vendor policy see the Cisco Meraki EOL guide, and if the terminology is the confusing part, EOL vs EOS vs EOSL separates the three milestones that get used interchangeably.
What replaces the MX60?
Cisco Meraki has not published a named one-to-one successor for the MX60, which is the common case outside of RUCKUS lifecycle notices. The practical approach is to pick the current model in the same product line at similar capacity, then check its End of Support date before ordering rather than after.
The table below is that shortlist: the MX firewalls still in support, soonest deadline first, so you can see how much runway each option actually buys you.
MX firewalls still in support
Sorted by how much supported life is left, shortest first. Anything already past its date is left out, because it is not a replacement for anything.

Common questions
- When does the Cisco Meraki MX60 reach end of support?
- The Cisco Meraki MX60 reached End of Support on October 24, 2022. It no longer receives firmware or security updates and is not eligible for support or hardware replacement.
- Do the MX60 variants share the same end of support date?
- Yes. MX60, MX60W, MX60-HW, MX60W-HW all carry the same End of Support date of October 24, 2022. They differ in chassis or radio trim rather than lifecycle.
- Does a firewall stop working at end of support?
- No. The firewall keeps passing traffic. What stops is firmware fixes, vendor support and hardware replacement under contract, so any vulnerability disclosed after that date is never patched on that unit.
